The Foxgirl’s Werewolf
Macy is a shapeshifter, capable of taking on the shape of any female person or animal she touches. She is also able to detect lies, a skill that makes her unpopular not only in the human community, but among other supernaturals as well. She lives in hiding in Settleton, a suburb of New Boston. If she is discovered, she faces either death or incarceration in government run camps. Her parents were killed when she was nine and she has spent the subsequent eleven years alone.
She was blackmailed into taking a job as a private investigator where her shifter abilities are particularly useful. The job has kept her in Settleton longer than she has ever lived anywhere. She breaks her usual rules and befriends the drag queen that lives on the second floor of her apartment, and her landlord.
One evening when out with the drag queen, she picks up six foot seven three hundred pound Shane Wulfe on a dare. The dangerous-looking Russian werewolf is more than happy to go home with her for a one night stand. The one night stand turns into more than Macy was looking for as her body reacts magically to Shane’s touch. Both are consumed by need and passion beyond the normal and neither understands what is happening.
Macy goes in to work to discover that her boss has hired Shane as her backup for a new job. Supernatural Task Force, or STF, wants her to investigate suspected members of an anti-supernatural terrorist group known as Purestlife. Macy’s boss is aware of what she is, but the government is not, and she wants to keep it that way.
The first possible terrorists Macy is hired to investigate are a DA and a Senator. She takes the place of their favorite hooker during a dinner in hopes of confirming their involvement in Purestlife. She gets the information she needs, but her cover is blown during the drive to the hotel. She is mortally injured trying to escape.
Shane finds her and convinces his Alpha, the leader of the werewolf pack, to save her life. While Macy recovers, she discovers that she can use telepathy with Shane. She also experiences dangerous cold spells when physically separated from him. He promises to discover what is going on.
She meets two STF agents to discuss the evidence she gathered on the DA and Senator. They figure out she is a shapeshifter, but don’t threaten to expose her. They want to use her to trap the DA and Senator, and eventually build an STF team of both humans and Supernaturals.
Macy is brought before the werewolf pack to acknowledge her life-debt to them. The Alpha explains to her that the weird magical connection to Shane is a mate-bond. A shifter shouldn’t be able to bond with a werewolf, and the result of the pairing could be lethal for Macy.
Shane and Macy try and come to terms with being bound together permanently while the STF agents set up the trap for the DA and Senator. She is betrayed by one of the STF agents who turns out to be a Purestlife member. Shane arrives during her torture and kills the agent. The wolf pack helps capture the DA and Senator and takes them into custody for questioning while Macy recovers from her injuries.
Macy arranges an exchange of prisoners between the wolf pack and STF. The DA and Senator are persuaded to expose the Purestlife plan to bomb nine of the supernatural reservation camps. STF is forced to enlist the help of the werewolves to prevent the bombings.
Macy and Shane join one of the STF teams. They enter a residential neighborhood to capture five terrorists and disable the truck bomb destined for the nearby supernatural camp. The terrorists are captured, but Shane is gravely injured. Macy uses the mate-bond to save his life.
The terrorists are stopped and Macy and Shane head on a tropical vacation. But STF wants them to come back almost as soon as they leave. They have plans for the new teams.
